In the fall of 2005, a committee of faculty and staff reviewed classroom response system technology from a number of vendors. After careful consideration, TurningPoint from Turning Technologies was selected as the standard for Illinois State University.
Classroom support installed TurningPoint hardware and software in most 110 (general use) classrooms for the start of the Fall '06 semester. Additionally some non-110 (departmentally-owned) rooms have been setup to use TurningPoint. During the '07-'08 school year over 100 courses/sections integrated clickers into the curriculum and over 7000 students were required to have clickers. The use of clickers has grown to over 18,000 clickers sold by 2010. We see a steady increase in the use of this technology.
In the summer of 2010 we started introduction courses for TPAnywhere which is a stand-alone version of TurningPoint. This product does not rely on PowerPoint for functionality. It is a streamlined program and can also run off of a thumbdrive for mobile use.
